The three of us traveled down to Seagrove, FL on Saturday to discover that our condo really did exist! We had rented this condo through Craig's List a month before and had recently heard a horror story about Craig's List and a hoax. So, we were really hoping the key we had to the condo really worked. We were pleased to find a very nice condo with a view of the gulf for very little money! It did seem a little too good to be true!
Day 1: One of the first things we did upon arrival was take the Squirt down to the beach. Daddy carried her and she held on to him tight. First, Eric dipped her little feet down into the sand and tried to sit her down. She sat on his feet and wouldn't go any further than that. We walked down into the water and just the sound of the crashing waves frightened her. Needless to say more, the first attempt at the beach was a bust.
Day 2: Tried the beach again. This time we brought down beach towels and sat down. Still didn't like it. She climbed up my stomach and tried climbing up my whole body. We tried to get her to play with the sand, but she wanted nothing to do with it. Maybe try the pool? Sure. Daddy put her feet in and she loved it. Although, Little Ms. Independent wanted to play in the pool without one of us holding onto her, so that didn't work out too well. She's used to the baby pool where she can crawl all over in it. She did have fun splashing around, though.
Day 3: Blew up a baby float/canopy and let her play with it in the condo. Then, we brought it out to the beach and put it on top of a big baby blanket. Caroline then played under the canopy of that since it didn't involve any sand at all. She seemed to tolerate the sound of the waves.
Day 4: Didn't even try the beach; went straight for the pool. Put her in the baby float and I swam all over the pool with her. I'm not going to say she "loved" it, but she definitely enjoyed herself a little bit. Once again, wanted to play by herself and that clearly wasn't happening.
Day 5: Was up, cleaned condo, and out of there by 9am! Did you know that there is a town in Alabama called Sweet Home? Haha: Sweet Home, Alabama! Hilarious. Maybe it wasn't really a town, but everything in this "area" in Lower Alabama said "Sweet Home Baptist Church", "Sweet Home Grocery", "Sweet Home Presbyterian". Who knows. Very small town, but it entertained me for the 2 minutes that we drove through this small town.
The one negative thing about going to the beach is there is no direct way to get there. We had to take a "highway" (ya right) down that had stop lights and all these TINY TINY towns. It takes forever to get there (4 hours), when really it shouldn't take that long. I think it just seemed like forever b/c we had a screaming baby that wanted OUT of her carseat.
We're happy to be back home! Caroline and I are headed to Bethalto next week to visit with family!! Can't wait to see them and hopefully Caroline will enjoy all the grandparents' pools!!!
I will post the photo album on another post above! Email me if you can't open it and I will e-mail you the album directly!
